General Maintenance and Tidy Up

March 26 @ 9:30 am 3:00 pm

During the winter months volunteers meet to carry out general maintenance around the Heritage Area. We carry out jobs, such as removing dead and dying trees and any branches which might be dangerous, fence repairs and drain clearing. We also cut back areas of overgrowth to allow the local plants to thrive.

We have cleared some overgrown areas and opened them up to allow the native flora to show and have also cleared the heavier ivy growth on some of the more mature trees. We have started opening up the paths to their original width, some have become so overgrown that there was barely a single file track left! The image below shows the pathway up to the Hoffmann Kiln being worked on, the width of the path had declined to less than the width of the tracks on the digger in the photo! Hopefully we will be able to regenerate a lot more of the paths in the Heritage Area. Our thank to Shropshire Council for paying for the hire of the digger.

VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED

If you have some spare time why not come along and join us to help preserve the Heritage Area for future generations!
